World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII

Pretend that you live in a big city in Britain in early September 1939. As you are leaving school on Friday afternoon, the teacher gives each person a letter which explains that the evacuation will take place next Wednesday.

Look at the websites listed below, then write about your experiences from the moment you are given the letter.

Things to Think About:

  • What do you and your friends think about being evacuated?
  • What did your parents say when they read the letter.
  • Did they choose to keep you at home, or send you to a safe place?
    • If you were evacuated.
    • What was the journey like?
    • Where did you go?
    • What was your new family like?
    • What new things did you see?
    • Did you miss your family?
      • If you stayed at home
      • What did you think when all your friends were going away?
      • How were you educated?
      • What did you do in your spare time?

When you have finished your story, perhaps you would like to send in so others can read it.

Please e-mail your story to webquest@wartimememories.co.uk

Don`t forget to include your name, age and the name of your school.
