World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII

Information.

HMS Venetia was built by Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. at Govan in Scotland. She was launched on the 29th of October 1917

HMS Venetia was mined and sunk about 12 nautical miles north-east of Margate, Kent on 19th October 1940.



I would like to speak to anyone who can give me information about my grandad George Henry Damsell who was captured at Dunkirk on 23 may 1940 and marched to stalag VIIIB. He was seconded from HMS Venetia to the landing craft Colombo. He joined the Navy as a boy 2 oct 1915. His official number was J44814.
