World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII

Information.

HMS Mignonette (K38), a flower class corvette, was launched 28th January 1941, having been built by Hall Russell, N E Marine.

After the war she served as the merchant ship Alexandrouplis in 1948 but was lost on 30th November 1948.

My husband, Mr J.L. Brandon, sadly no longer here, was in the Royal Navy joining September 1940 at the age of 18 years. He did his training at St Budeaux, Plymouth and then stationed at Chatham, Kent. He did many journeys with the North Atlantic convoys from Liverpool to Newfoundland and was on a corvette as a Leading Signalman, he was on the "Flower Class" corvettes, his last one being "The Mignonette", he also went to West Africa, Malta, Italy and France. He served until February, 1946 when he was demobbed.

Mrs B Brandon.
