World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII
Information.
SS Marine Serpent was a troop transport ship with accomodation for 3,451 toops. She was built by the Kaiser Shipbuilding Corp, Vancouver, Washington and launched 12 June 1945. Following the end of World War Two, the Marine Serpent transported occupation troops to the Far East and to returned veterans of the Pacific campaigns to the United States.
She was also used byteh US Navy during the Korean war.
These are scans of a news letter I found while going through some of my fathers belongings (James Y. Belasco). Other then what is in it I don't really know much else. Based on the date, 20th April 1946, I suspect this was given to my father on his return trip from serving as a medic with the 11th Airborne Division on Okinawa.
