World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII

Information.

Stalag 9b was located close to Bad Orb, Hessen-Nassau.

My father, Richard E. Berning, was in the 106th Infantry Battalion and was taken POW to Badorb. He was in IXB and he lost over 100 pounds and had frozen feet. He didn't talk much about this time in his life, but as he got older he was more emotional about the war. Does anyone remember him?

My Grand father, Raymond E. Spencer was also a P.O.W. at this camp. He was a PFC when captured and a Cpl when he got out. He died when I was very young and since then a school teacher has stolen his P.O.W. tags from my nephew.... anyway ... I am very proud of my Granddad and wish to do all I can to honour his memory. In a way this keeps him alive for me at least.

My Dad, Walter Albert Evertsen, Pfc. was captured at the Battle of the Bulge & detained at Stalag 9B for 3 months before liberated. He just turned 80 years old and is doing well. He weighed a mere 87 lbs. when liberated. (He still can't eat potato soup to this day)

Glen Evertsen
