HMS Malaya was built Portsmouth Dockyard and launched in February 1916. Malaya was a Queen Elizabeth Class Dreadnought Battleship, being 634 feet in length, with a beam of 90 feet, her crew numbered 923 officers and men. She was paid for as a gift by the Federated Malay States and sailed with the Grand Fleet, 5th Battle Squadron. HMS Malaya took part in the Battle of Jutland in 1916, she was damaged by seven 12 inch enemy rounds and 63 of her crew were killed with a further 68 being injured. She underwent repairs and rejoined the Grand Fleet on the 24th of June 1916
In 1948 HMS Malaya was sold for scrap.

This is a photo of my father John William Floyd taken on the HMS Malaya in World War 1. On the original photo you can see HMS Malaya on the hat band of the sailor back row centre. My father born 1897 served as o/s on the Malaya from 28th January 1916 till 15th March 1917. Can you give me any info on the photo?
