Danton was a French battleship, she was launched 4th July 1909. She was torpedoed on the 19th of March 1917 by German "U-64" in the Central Mediterranean, southwest of San Pietro island. Danton was sailing from Toulon, southern France to the French base at Corfu off western Greece to join the blockade of the Strait of Otranto following a refit. 1,102 men were on board, far more than he normal crew.
