World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII

Information.

The 941st Field Artillery Battalion was attached to V Corps during WW2, late in teh war they became part of the 89th Div.

Known movements of the 941st FA.

  • 13th June 1944, Landed at Normandy
  • 16th Dec 1944, Monschau
  • March 1945, the Rhine River crossing.

I served both in the 172nd & 941st F.A. units between 1940-1945. It all started with D-Battery 172nd N.H.A.N.G. in 1940. I served as truck driver, field switchboard operator and fwd.lineman, T/5 HqHq Bat. 2nd Bn 941st F.A.

Most of my personal records & photos were lost in a storage fire in the late 50's and have very little left to reflect on. I'd like to offer these few memories to my grandchildern before I pass. Question: anyone out there that wish to share some photos of 105mm/155mm Artillery units in action for my scrapbook? I also drove the GMC 2-1/2 ton 6x6 cargo truck & the M3 Halftrack as a prime mover for the 105mm.
