World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII
31st Field Regiment Royal Artillery.
At the outbreak of World war Two in September 1939 the 31st Field Regiment Royal Artillery were in E. Mersa Matruh, Egypt. They saw action in Africa, Italy and Greece with the 4th Indian Division of the 8th Army, the Desert Rats.
Does anybody recognise the other men in this photograph? Or where & when it was taken? My grandfather, WOII Daniel James, is in the front row 2nd from the left. He was in The Royal Artillery & served in Africa, Italy & Greece with the 31st Field Regiment RA during WWII & later in Germany, Egypt & Libya with the 42nd Field Regiment RA & 2 or 3 RHA. His term of of service was 1939 until 1962. My grandfather passed away June 2005, & this photo along with several others that I had not seen during my childhood, were left to me in his will.
