Information.

No. 19 Squadron was first formed during the Great War. It was reformed in 1924 and flew with No. 12 Group, Fighter Command, during the Battle of Britain. 19 was the first squadron to be equipped with Spitfires and was heavily engaged during the Dunkirk crisis in May 1940. The also flew with 2TAF. In early 1944 Mustangs arrived for close-support duties and after D-Day 19 Squadron were briefly based in France before joining with Coastal Command for long-range escort duties off the coast of Norway.
