World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII
Information.
During World War II Molesworth was home to the 303rd Bombardment Group, "Hell's Angels" a B-17 Bomber Group of the 8th Air Force. In October 1942 they adopted the motto "Might in Flight" and lived up to it on each of their record 364 missions.
The airfield closed in 1973, in 1980 a two-year demolition project at the Molesworth airfield began. Hardcore runway concrete was used on motor ways and trunk road construction. The debris of crumbling buildings left over from the war years were removed.
The site is still used by the military today.
