World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII

Information.

Hunsdon airfield officially opened on the 4th of May 1941 as a satelite landing field for nearby North Weald RAF Hunsdon became home to 85 Squadron and whose Leader was Group Captain Peter Townsend, the first spitfire pilot to claim an enemy plane over English soil. 85 squadron flew Hawker Hurricanes, painted black in the early part of 1941 as a nightfighter squadron



I am a member of staff at 1451 Haverhill Squadron Air Cadets. I am trying to find out as much information as possible about 1451 Flight based at RAF Hunsdon. Thanks
