World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII

Information.

If you have any information on airfields of World War Two located in China, Burma or India please get in touch.

During September 1998, my wife and I visited Lijiang, China which is located reasonably close to the border of Tibet, while sight-seeing at a park, I came across a memorial that resembled a tombstone, on it was the following information:

In Loving Memory of

Major E. R. Glass

Capt. C. R. Howell

1st Lt. H. Morgan

1st Lt. J. Smerke

2nt Lt. L. E. Kiviatskowski

2nd Lt. J. J. Madeline

T/sgt C. H. Olovson

T/sgt E. E. Stilfield

of the XX Bomber command who gave their lives in World War II on July 30th, 1944

I spent 13 months in the China, Burma , India Theatre as a Staff Sergeant flying 37 missions into Burma against the Japanese, from the area of India that is now Bangladesh. I was with the 82nd Squadron, 12th Bomb Group, 10th Air Force, the time period was at about the same time as the aircraft mentioned above was flying.. It is my hope that I might be able to locate phone numbers or addresses of some of the surviving family members of the unfortunate guys listed above. I would like to contact them and tell them that, a fellow airman has paid his respects to their memory, in a very distant place.

If you, or any other persons can help me locate phone numbers or addresses, I will be most grateful. My E-mail address is: Smuffs@aol.com
