Information. USAAF Boxted (Langham) Station 150 in Essex was home to the 386th Bombardment Group (Medium) flying B-26 Marauder aircraft from June 1943. From July 1943 to April 1944 the 354th Fighter Group flew P-51's. 56th Fighter Group, consisting of the 61st, 62nd and 63rd Fighter Squadrons flying P-47 aircraft were stationed here from April 1944 to September 1945. In May 1944 the 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron arrived, flying P-47's until January 1945. Squadrons stationed at Boxted 386th Bombardment Group (Medium) June 1943 354th Fighter Group. July 1943 toApril 1944 61st Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group. April 1944 to September 1945 62nd Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group. April 1944 to September 1945 63rd Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group. April 1944 to September 1945 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron. May 1944 to January 1945 I recently aquired an A-2 jacket with with the markings - Bernard S. Miller serial #0-830047 stamped on the inside. The jacket has a 61st Squadron patch on the front. Might you be able to provide any information on the gentleman and if not, could you possibly point me in the right direction as to where I could start my research? I used to have a 56th FG Unit History that would have been some help to me but over the years it has gone missing. I have a little information that I got from the person who I got the jacket from and he believed that Mr. Miller may have been from the Boston area. Any help would be appreciated!
